Quran Only Approach
is Wrong
The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “There will
come a time, when a man sitting upon his couch is mentioned a hadith and he
replies, ‘Between us and you is the Book of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, so
what we find in it to be lawful we take as lawful and what we find in it to be
forbidden we take to be forbidden.’ Indeed, what the Messenger of Allah has
forbidden is like what Allah has forbidden.” [Ahmad]
Unfortunately we see this in our time, that people reject well known tenets and rulings of Islam saying that they are (in the hadith and) not in the Quran, while Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) says in the Quran:
”And whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he forbids you from, abstain (from it). And fear Allah. Indeed Allah is severe in punishment.” [Surah Al-Hashr, Ayat 7]
If you hear a man criticizing the ahadith, not accepting them or rejecting any of the ahadith from the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam), doubt his Islam. He is indeed attacking the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) and his Companions, since we have only come to know of Allah (subhana wa ta’ala), His Messenger (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam), the Quran, what is good and bad, and of this world and the Hereafter through the ahadith.
